Poultry Hub - VR
Red Cartel were approached by TAFE NSW to create an experience to help educate students looking to move forward into the poultry industry. This engaging VR experience allows the students to interactively examine the layers of a chicken’s anatomy. Once familiar with the layers the students are then able to grab tweezers and partake in a mini game that requires them to find and retrieve specific organs, bones and muscles to confirm their understanding and complete the experience.
On this project, I used ZBrush to create a high poly Chicken mesh, Maya to then retopo and UV a low poly version. I then moved to Substance Painter to bake textures and put it all into Marmoset Toolbag 3 to do test renders. For the split view inside the chicken, I was able to use a provided skeletal mesh and render the “spliced sections” of the chickens, using this as the texture on the interior faces to give an X-ray effect. I was tasked with creating blend shapes for the exterior of the chicken which when the table is turned, makes the chicken look like its swaying with the movement. This project was optimized for use within Unity 3D with specs to be played on the HTC Vive VR Headset.
