The Legacy of Cthulhu - Marketing Art
A Lovecraftian-themed custom map developed in Unreal Engine for Fortnite, designed to seamlessly match Fortnite's established art style while introducing a unique cosmic horror twist.
The project focused on creating a unique cast of characters, including the iconic Cthulhu and Shoggoth, alongside vibrant, modular environments and weapons. Designed for optimized performance and seamless integration with Fortnite's existing ecosystem, the experience showcased industry-standard workflows and technical precision, culminating in a highlight presentation at Unreal Fest - Gold Coast 2024.
As Senior Artist, I led and mentored a team of four junior/associate artists through the entire production pipeline—from concept to game-ready assets—creating a cohesive set of environments, characters, and weapons in Unreal Engine for Fortnite. My contributions included:
Character Creation: Designed and sculpted the lead character, Cthulhu, and the supporting enemy, Shoggoth. Tasks included high-to-low poly modeling, custom rigging, UV mapping, and texture painting, all tailored to Fortnite's art style.
Optimization & Integration: Developed and implemented texture trim sheets, optimized materials, and created master shaders to ensure seamless integration with the Fortnite aesthetic and platform performance requirements.
Art Direction: Provided consistent feedback to maintain quality and style alignment across all team-created assets.
Marketing Art & Showcase: Directed set dressing, lighting, and rendering for promotional materials, including environment showcases featured at Unreal Fest - Gold Coast 2024.
